Stephen Kimanzi

My name is Stephen Kimanzi. I am from Mombasa in Kenya. I completed my BASc and MASc education at UBC Okanagan and began my PhD under Dr. Mohammadi in 2019. My interests include gaming and playing musical instruments, cooking and learning new languages.

My PhD research explores the use of non-invasive mechanical devices to attenuate the tremors experienced by Parkinson’s patients. These tremors are known to be random and unpredictable which makes controlling them a significant challenge. Current solutions such as medical procedures and task specific devices do not offer a cost effective and all rounded reliable solution which paves way for an impactful design that will support those ailing from Parkinson’s disease.
