Dylan Goode

Dylan Goode, a Canadian native born and raised in Langley BC, is a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering student and the Heart Valve Performance Laboratory lab manager. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with distinction in June 2018 and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering in June 2020. His master’s thesis, “New Concepts in Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement,” focused on new principles and devices around catheter-based prosthetic valves for the mitral position. His Ph.D. research focuses on designing and validating a novel bileaflet mechanical heart valve. He aspires to be a cardiovascular engineer in the biomedical field. He hopes to use his skills and knowledge to provide the world with better heart valve designs, allowing patients to live long and healthy lives.

Dylan’s current research focuses on designing and validating a novel bileaflet mechanical heart valve, designing and fabricating a steady-state flow simulator, and an air-based pulsatile fatigue testing system. His other research work includes the application of soft robotics to penile implants to create more realistic expansion and reduce surgical complications.
